Ganito ang naging social media post ng ABS-CBN news anchor / host na si Karen Davila noong araw na ihain ni Solicitor General Jose Calida ang “Quo Warranto” petition laban sa prangkisa ng media giant.

Ayon kay Solicitor General Calida, natuklasan nila ang ilang pang-aabuso na ginawa ng ABS-CBN sa prangkisa nito.

“We want to put an end to what we discovered to be highly abusive practices of ABS-CBN benefitting a greedy few at the expense of millions of its loyal subscribers. These practices have gone unnoticed or were disregarded for years,” banat ni Calida.

Inirereklamo ni Solicitor General Calida ang pag-aalok ng ABS-CBN ng pay-per-view. Ayon sa Office of the Solicitor General, ang free-to-air frequency na pinagkaloob sa ABS-CBN ay hindi dapat binabayaran ng mga manonood.

“ABS-CBN Corporation is using the free-to-air frequency granted to it by the State for its operations of a Conditional Access System (CAS), particularly its KBO Channel,” sabi sa petisyon ng OSG.

Magugunita na noong 2015 ay nag-alok ang ABS-CBN ng pay-per-view para sa laban nila Manny Pacquiao at Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Ayon sa OSG, hindi daw kumukha ng kaukulang permiso sa National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ang ABS-CBN noong nag-alok ito ng pay-per-view services.
